India faces growing breast cancer epidemic

Deep in the rainforests of Assam, in northeast India, it is often too late for the women with breast cancer who stream in to the Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, in Silchar. Oncologist Ravi Kannan reveals, "Women sometimes come in with lumps in their breast that are 30-35 cm large. These heavy masses of cancerous cells protrude outside the body, ulcerating or teeming with maggots."
