In 2005, the Millennium Project published a report of the Task Force on Child Health and Maternal Health. The key findings were also published in The Lancet. The heart of the case made by the Task Force was that effective and affordable health interventions and technologies will fail to substantially improve health outcomes for women in low-income and middle-income countries unless health systems within countries can deliver appropriate health services that meet women's specific needs.
