Ferrochrome

For the second consecutive month, the ferrochrome market has remained quiet. Expectations for demand to rebound were high for Q4 2010, but those expectations have not been realised. Whilst demand for ferrochrome in Q4 2010 has certainly been higher than in Q3 2010 and the quarter is looking stronger than Q4 2009, substantial increases have not occurred. Indeed, orders from stainless steel mills have not only been lower than anticipated but orders have been arriving later than usual, reflecting the continued uncertainty surrounding the world economy. Coupled with the usual seasonal slowdown at this time of year, this all adds up to very sluggish market conditions for ferrochrome.
