Editorial Comment: These are interesting data and highlight an under studied area, that of "asexuality." Approximately 37% of the 1,581 Chinese men surveyed acknowledged that they did not have sexual intercourse for at least 6 months. The specific reasons given included "erectile difficulty" (52.9%), "do not care about sexuality" (53.5%), "no longer necessary to have sexuality at this age" (47.7%), "severe stress" (44.4%), "severe fatigue""(26.3%) and "masturbation" (26.9%). There was no mention of partner status, which may have had an important role. Further study of this phenomenon is warranted.
