European stainless steel mills are finding it hard to push through base price increases to the extent hoped for, according to the majority of market sources CRU spoke to this month. The picture is not entirely uniform-the French market, for example, seems to have retained the increase achieved on September deliveries-but in general base prices have either remained flat or else increased marginally over the last two months. Mills have not yet achieved the ?50-65/t increase in base prices that they wanted.
