Using Farm Waste To Produce Fuel

Dan West is a farmer who has grown to love waste. Operating a 1,300-tree orchard in Macon, Mo., West saw an opportunity to use the waste fruit from his orchard and distill it into high-octane fuel. Agriculture can adapt to supply its own sources of liquid fuels for farm equipment and machinery, and this is exactly what West set out to achieve. The beauty of West's plan is that it did not reduce his fruit yield entering the market, but simply took advantage of the waste stream generated on the farm.
