Following delays to the start-up dates for both Ravensthorpe and Goro, there are no major new greenfield projects due on-stream this year that will yield refined nickel, leaving the industry reliant on existing operations and a handful of brownfield expansions. In the first quarter, there is potential for a modest 2.8 percent year-on-year increase in output but this assumes that the level of unforeseen disruption, which has severely constrained growth in the last two years, amounts to no more than 10,000t.
