Ferrochrome

During the first half of 2005 we estimate that global demand for high carbon ferrochrome and charge chrome will increase by around 1.7 percent year-on-year. This rate of glolial growth is far from headline grabbing. For the most part we believe that production cutbacks and various disruptions to global ferrochrome output over the last six months have contributed to the ferrochrome market remaining tight throughout the first half of the year. By the end of HI 2005, we estimate that the global market will be in deficit to the tune of 70,000 tonnes.
