Market trends: Europe/German scrappage scheme ends, solar sector still bright spot

Order activity in the German market improved m-o-m in September but extruders continue to report y-o-y declines in bookings. However, some extruders noted that the rate of decline had eased compared to the sharp declines seen in the first half of the year. Looking at demand on a sectoral basis, activity in the transportation sector remains weak despite the recent improvements in automotive production. Year-to-date sales are up 26.6 percent, suggesting that car sales are still being boosted by the German government's scrappage scheme.
