摘要

The analysis presented by Markel does not invalidate our numerical results,and the primary conclusion of our paper,which is that one-dimensional arrays of metal nano-particles that are irradiated by light with polarization and wave vector both perpendicular to the array axis can produce narrow line shapes in the extinction spectrum,is not affected.The primary point of the Comment is to note that it is essential to use an expression for the polarizability of the metal particles that includes for radiative damping effects,so that energy conservation is properly accounted for in the influence of radiative coupling between the particles on the extinction spectrum.
