Chevron plans US$500m Bangladesh gas upgrade

CHEVRON has announced a US$500m boost to its natural gas operations in Bangladesh, aiming to keep up with growing local demand. The upgrades will include an expansion of its gas processing plant on the Bibiyana field, in the northwest of the country. It will also drill additional development wells and launch an enhanced gas liquids recovery unit. Expanded production is expected to begin in 2014, and will boost Chevron's capacity in Bangladesh by more than 300m ft~3/d, up to 1.4bn ft~3/d. It will also add a further 4,000 bbl/d of natural gas liquids.
