WOODSIDE PETROLEUM'S Pluto project has begun producing LNG after a delay of more than a year. The A$14.9bn (US$14.5bn) facility shipped its first cargo of LNG to Japanese project partner Kansai Electric Power in May.Initially approved for development in 2007, the project processes gas from five subsea wells in the Pluto gas field, located in 85 m of water, 190 km northwest of Karratha in Western Australia. From an offshore platform, gas is piped to an onshore LNG processing train with a 4.3m t/y production capacity.
