According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) UK motorists will spend a whopping ￡5bn on new cars in March.This expenditure will generate more than ￡1bn for the UK in VAT receipts, according to the SMMT, as 350,000 new '12-plate' registered cars are driven off dealer forecourts by motorists keen to be seen in the latest model.
