Greens file lawsuit against Santee Cooper after deal worked out to limit lawsuits

Environmental groups are as good as their word ... and their word doesn't appear to be very good.Despite a deal worked out between businesses and environmentalists that led to a South Carolina law banning certain types of lawsuits against companies accused of violating state pollution control laws, environmentalists have filed a lawsuit against Santee Cooper over a coal ash pond.The bill making the law was signed by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley Wednesday June 6, the same day the lawsuit was filed. The three environmental groups suing Santee Cooper - over discharges of arsenic from coal-fired plants - said Haley signed the law but didn't say when she signed it.
