Joy sees profit up in fiscal Q3, battens down hatches for potentially rough water

To trace a loss in enthusiasm go no further than Joy. That's Joy Global, and the company's order book reflects diminishing optimism - a lot of it from the coal side. Joy did fine in the third fiscal quarter, made $1.82/share, which was up from $1.61 in the comparable 2011 quarter. But there are surprises around every corner, and recent ones mostly have been the bearers of challenging news.
