China’s coal imports to increase in 2013, says coal exchange

Beijing — China’s total coal imports will increase to 350-380 million mt in 2013 from 289 million mt last year, as the Asian country’s demand for imported coal compensates for weaker buying interest from other industrialized economies such as Japan and Western Europe, according to Fan Guangzhi, the chairman of the Qinhuangdao Ocean Shipping Coal Exchange.
