Atlantic coal swaps close flat as power-driven rally runs out of steam

A brief rally in Atlantic thermal coal swaps ran out of steam September 29, with contracts closing just $0.10/mt higher at the back of the curve and API2 (CIF ARA) and API4 (FOB Richards Bay) markets once again taking direction from movements in related energy and currency markets. Platts assessed the API2 front-quarter Q4-11 at $122.15/ mt, up $0.15/mt, and the year-ahead Cal-12 at $123.60/mt, up $0.10/mt. The API4 Q4-11 settled at $117/mt, up $0.25/ mt, and Cal-12 at $119.50/mt, up $0.25/mt.
