US spot butadiene was stable this week, assessed Friday at 45 cents/lb CIF USG as fundamentals of tight supply and weak demand remained. Demand was slow, with the slight improvement heard in the past few weeks disappearing this week, sources said. Downstream demand in the styrenebutadiene rubber and styrene-butadiene-styrene markets continued to be heard sluggish, sources said. Supply continued to be described as tight, but a trader source said buyers were getting the needed volumes. The import arbitrage from Europe was closed, sources said, adding that it would be tough to find product from Europe as that market was also tight.
