Asian low density polyethylene was assessed $15/mt higher week on week at $1,090/mt CFR Far East Asia Wednesday on restocking demand. Inventories were heard as low, following a spate of low buying activities in December due to the year-end lull and year-end accounting close. This pushed buying ideas higher, and some sellers were heard to have either pulled back offers or withdrew existing offers. Some small Chinese traders have also returned to the market, seeking cargoes as polymers in general are used as collateral for circular trades in other commodities and even property. Demand was also detected from other market participants looking to restock in view of the uptick in prices.
