Asian linear low density polyethylene prices were flat this week on weak demand and thin trading. There were no deals heard this week. In India and South China, demand was weak following a slow down in manufacturing activities ahead of the rainy season. Although some Chinese plants had announced turnarounds, market sources do not expect the shutdowns to tighten supply as demand is weak. China’s Daqing Petrochemical plans to shut its two high density polyethylene/linear low density polyethylene swing plants at Daqing city in northeastern China’s Heilongjiang province on June 20 for a month-long turnaround. The two swing plants have capacities of 200,000 mt/year and 310,000 mt/year.
