Brazil’s Braskem is unlikely to export its propylene to other Latin American regions, even as market sources said the company could have a surplus. A source with knowledge of Braskem operations said the majority of its propylene would be used for downstream derivatives, the bulk of which consist of durable goods consumed in the domestic market. However, with demand for those goods low because of economic conditions within the country, Braskem could consider exporting propylene acquired through a third party, the source said.
