North African and Turkish prices were assessed at $1,540/mt CFR, down $20/mt on the week, in line with a fall in the Turkish market. Buying in the North African region remained thin, with sources reporting weak demand ahead of the start of Ramadan. Offers into the Turkish market were reported at $1,560/mt CFR, with some at around $1,600/mt CFR, but demand was reported to be thin. Sources reported the improving supply situation in Europe as a boon to consumer demands for a decrease in prices. Asian general purpose polystyrene fell $30/mt week on week to be assessed at $1,410/mt CFR China and $1,420/mt CFR Southeast Asia Wednesday, as major producers lowered offers amid thin demand.
