The US acrylonitrile export assessment declined $10/mt week on week to $1,190/mt FOB USG with supply and demand heard mixed and global prices flat to lower. The assessment marks the lowest level since being assessed at $1,170/mt FOB USG on August 4, 2009, according to Platts data. The arbitrage to Europe and Asia remained open this week, with Europe providing the best destination to export, sources said. European ACN prices were flat on the week at an assessment of $1,300/mt CIF Med Tuesday, while Asian ACN prices were $30/mt lower on the week at assessments of $1,340/mt CFR Far East Asia and $1,300/mt CFR South Asia Tuesday. Sources said there continued to see opportunities to export to Europe with higher prices in that region due to higher propylene. Supply and demand was heard mixed with a trader source saying demand was slow with China not buying and supply was lengthening, while another source said demand was steady with product tight through July.
