LyondellBasell resumes normal operation at Corpus Christi, Texas, ethylene site

Houston — US olefins producer LyondellBasell has resumed normal operations at its 1.7 billion lb/year ethylene plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, the company said Wednesday. The plant suffered a process upset at the site on Tuesday, caused by an instrument malfunction, a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said. The emission event resulted in flaring about 4,800 lb of ethylene and 1,600 lb of propylene, the filing said. The process upset is the second one in the past week — the company suffered a two-day production upset last week beginning on Wednesday.
