US spot styrene jumped 1 cent/lb for November and 1.25 cents/lb for December to Friday assessments of 39.50 cents/lb ($871/mt) FOB USG, tracking a spike in European spot styrene prices following a fire at Shell?s Moerdijk plant in the Netherlands Wednesday. The market structure moved into a contango structure Thursday and then flattened on Friday, tracking the European market structure. Market activity was quiet to start the week but picked up Wednesday through the end of the week on news of the Moerdijk fire.
