Asian PTA prices slipped $3/mt week on week to $607/mt CFR China, $624/mt CFR Southeast Asia and $627/mt CFR India Friday amid weak crude, PET and polyester as well as waning demand for spot cargoes and ample supply of domestic China cargoes. Although higher operating rates of 85%-90% have been seen at several Chinese PET resin producers, most polyester fiber plants in China and Taiwan were reported to have reduced rates to 70%-75%.
