European low density polyethylene spot prices recovered after falling below Asian values for the first time since July 2012 as supply tightness persisted in Asian markets, sources said on the sidelines of the K Fair international plastics and rubber trade fair in Dusseldorf. According to Platts data, Europe maintained an average premium of $182/mt over Asian prices in 2013, but this changed last week. This week, LDPE FOB NWE was assessed at $1,640-1,645/mt compared to $1,650/mt CFR Far East Asia.
