US acrylonitrile export prices continued to slide, falling $20/mt on the week to an assessment at $1,770/mt FOB USG Tuesday on weak demand. No bids, offers or deals were heard by time of assessment. Sources pegged the market around $1,800/mt FOB USG, but a trader talked the price as low as $1,700/mt FOB USG. A source with a producer said last week the market was tough to assess, but the sentiment in the market is the price may move down. The main drivers behind the fall in prices have been weak demand coupled with lower feedstock propylene prices. Expectations remain for a 6-10 cents/lb drop in the April US propylene contract price from March.
