Japan’s JX lowers run rates at Mizushima PX plants after CDU fire

Tokyo — Operating rates of paraxylene plants owned by Japan’s JX Nippon Oil and Energy have been reduced slightly after a fire at the 110,000 b/d crude distillation unit in Mizushima, western Japan, late Monday, sources close to the company said Wednesday. The actual operating rates, however, were not clear. The company was forced to shut the CDU at Mizushima-B plant late Monday after a fire broke at a furnace attached to the CDU, Platts reported Tuesday.
