London — UK fuel ethanol maker Ensus will temporarily stop production at its 400 million liter/year (106 million gallons/year) plant at Wilton on Teesside, northeast England, for an undefined period of time due to challenging market conditions. “At this stage, we don’t know how long this pause will be, but we hope that market conditions can improve and are working towards the plant becoming operational again in the near future,” Ensus said in a statement. Production will “come off over time,” a company source added, without elaborating further. Ensus did not disclose how the stoppage will affect its contractual obligations with key customers such as Anglo-Dutch oil major Shell.
