NWE acetone prices set to rise in August on tight availability

London — An increase in feedstock propylene prices for August and tight availability are set to be the main drivers for the European acetone market next month, industry sources said. The European propylene contract price for August was fully settled Wednesday at Eur1,090/mt FD NWE, up Eur50/mt from July. Propylene is used for the production of cumene, precursor of acetone and phenol. For the production of each tonne of acetone around 0.81 tonnes of propylene is required.
