The weak demand and the expectation for new October prices resulted in a slow low density polyethylene market in key Latin American countries. In Peru, LDPE remained unchanged, assessed at $1,680-$1,690/mt CFR Peru, amid few offers. Peruvian buyers have said that LDPE offers have been rare. An offer from Spain was heard at $1,720/ mt, for payment in advance, which does not meet Platts’ methodology for credit terms. Thus it was not used in the assessment. In Brazil, the market was also calm amid low demand. LDPE was flat, assessed at $1,645-$1,655/mt CFR Brazil. Offers from the Middle East, Thailand and the US were heard in a range of $1,660-$1,710/mt CFR Brazil.
