The assessment for the Peruvian low-density polyethylene import market dropped $10 week on week to a Wednesday assessment of $1,670-1,680/mt CFR, pulled lower due to low offers for Asia-origin material. A Korean-origin offer was heard at $1,640 CFR Peru for mid-April delivery while a US-origin offer was heard at $1,690/mt CFR Peru. “Peruvian economy is very strong right now with normal demand for polyolefins. But I believe that the price decreasing we are experiencing is marginal and temporary,” a Peruvian buyer said, adding that producers are indicating higher prices for April. The assessment for the Brazilian LDPE remained unchanged, assessed at $1,605-$1,615/mt CFR.
