European polyethylene producers set out to protect margins, laying out targets of Eur20-40/mt in the face of the ethylene contract price decline of Eur60/mt, according to sources this week. “Suppliers say they have squeezed margins and will not accept the full monomer decline,” a converter said. “However, we will seek a reduction of Eur60/mt in the contract price.
