Spot styrene slipped 0.10 cents from April 5 to an assessment of 65.90 cents/lb FOB USG. Platts didn't publish assessments on April 6 because of the Good Friday holiday. Sources said the styrene market was quiet on the week except for an arbitrage window to Europe opening Thursday before closing Friday. The April European styrene price climbed $75/mt to $1,525/mt FOB ARA Thursday following news that Shell was having issues at its Moerdijk facility in The Netherlands. That opened a slight arbitrage window from the US to Europe, which sources said traders and producers were trying to take advantage of.
