Petrobras pegs 2016 production growth at 2.8%

Rio de Janeiro-Brazilian state oil company Petrobras expects domestic crude oil output to grow 2.8% to 2.185 million b/d in 2016 as the company shrugs off low oil prices and plans to connect more production wells to new platforms this year. Petrobras’ exploration and production director Solange Guedes said that the com- pany will maintain production targets and development plans under the $130.3 billion 2015-2019 investment plan unveiled in June despite renewed downward pressure on oil prices. Brent crude, which Petrobras uses as a reference for Brazilian grades, has once again edged below $50/b.
