Cape Town—Activity and interest in Equatorial Guinea’s oil and natural gas sector has slowed dramatically as the country has been one of the “first victims” of the sharp drop in oil prices over the past year, energy minister Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima said. “2016 is definitely going to be a quiet year in Equatorial Guinea,” said Lima at the Africa Upstream Conference in Cape Town. “We only have two wells which will be drilled next year. Hopefully, with a continued increase in oil price there could be more interest by companies,” he added.
