Indonesia’s Pertamina is considering shutting inefficient refineries due to high produc- tion costs, a senior official said Friday. “One of the reasons is inefficiency-the oil products [from the inefficient refineries] are more expensive compared with imported products,” Pertamina Marketing Director Ahmad Bam- bang said, adding that the company was still evaluating the pros and cons of shutdowns. The refineries under consideration are the 137,700 b/d Plaju refinery in south Sumatra and the 10,000 b/d Kasim refinery in Papua province.
