Government told stay out of Aussie pipeline

Sydney—Australian governments have been warned against interfering in an emerging trend for regional gas producers to deal directly with end-users to address a looming domestic supply crunch in the country’s east coast market. In its last quarterly report for 2014, local consultancy EnergyQuest said the governments of the Northern Territory and the eastern state of New South Wales should avoid investing in a proposed pipeline that would connect fields in Australia’s north and northwest to its east coast gas grid.
