Dubai—Kuwait has received bids for three major oil and gas projects worth more than $4 billion for the second phase of its nonassociated gas development known as the Jurassic gas project, government officials said Sunday. The projects, if implemented, could reduce the country’s reliance on LNG imports which began in 2009, as domestic consumption has outstripped supplies. Even with LNG imports, gas makes up only a third of Kuwait’s power sector requirements, and the state has been forced to burn as much as 200,000 b/d of liquid fuels in the last few years, which could otherwise have been exported.
