Santos backs Moomba gas plant expansion

Singapore—Santos and its joint venture partners in the onshore Cooper Basin are backing the region’s potential to help address a looming gas supply shortfall on Australia’s east coast with an A$800 million ($741 million) investment in the Moomba processing facilities. Santos has committed A$530 million to funding its 66.6% share of the cost of upgrading the central Moomba gas processing facilities to a capacity of around 420 terajoules/ day by mid-2016, a company spokeswoman said last week. The plant, which supplies gas to the states of Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia, currently has capacity to produce at about 350 Tj/d.
