New York—Refining margins in Europe have been improving over much of the past month as a flood of supply in the market has depressed spot crude prices. As European refiners compete for market share, crude producers that supply the region have been forced to discount local grades amid an influx of crudes from West Africa, the Persian Gulf, Latin America and even the US.
