Statoil supplies Ukraine gas in short-term deal

London-Norwegian state-controlled Statoil has been supplying gas to Ukraine under a new, short-term agreement since October 1, Statoil and Ukraine’s Naftogaz Ukrainy said Friday. The company said the deal was “revo- lutionary” for Naftogaz, which now employs standard European gas trading practices to procure gas. It has been cut off from Russian deliveries since mid-June.
