Houston—Potential tanker railcar retrofits under consideration by US transportation authorities would be pricey, but won’t hinder growing crudeby-rail traffic, CSX CEO Michael Ward said. Expenses from possible tighter safety regulations, “while large, won’t impact our ability to move this crude by rail,” Ward said Thursday during the company’s quarterly earnings call, noting that the railcars used in crude-byrail service are mostly owned by customers or leasing companies.
