Jakarta—Indonesia’s energy and mines minister Jero Wacik has submitted his resignation to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono after the country’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named him as a suspect in an extortion case, a government official said Monday. “Mr Wacik has submitted a letter of resignation to the president and the president plans to appoint a new acting energy and mines minister very soon,” energy and mines ministry’s spokesman Saleh Abdurahman told Platts. “Mr Wacik will not return to the ministry as of today.”
