India’s July product exports down 17.5%

Mumbai—India’s oil product exports in July fell 17.5% year on year to 4.72 million mt, or an average 1.19 million b/d, as overseas sales of all refined products, except LPG, fell in the first seven months of the year, according to provisional data from India’s Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC)—the research arm of India’s oil ministry. The main contributory factors were refinery turnarounds and rising domestic demand, especially for gasoline, which has seen the country’s two big privately-owned refiners, Reliance and Essar, selling to state-owned local refiners at a better prices than are available for exports.
