Tanzania eyes onshore site for LNG export facility

Cape Town—Tanzania has sufficient natural gas reserves to justify an onshore facility to export LNG, and may locate it in the southern region of Lindi, government officials said Tuesday. The proposed project, backed by BG Group and Norway’s Statoil, would start shipping gas to customers by 2020, deputy energy minister Charles Kitwanga said, adding that a final investment decision on the project is expected in 2016.
