Sydney—Chevron has acquired 100% of two offshore blocks in the frontier deepwater Bight Basin off southern Australia, as part of the second round of the federal government’s 2012 acreage release. The permits were among five awarded following the commitment of a total of A$580 million ($561 million) of exploration spending over the next three years, federal Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane said in a statement Wednesday.
