London-The UK government could recover over 4 billion barrels of oil equivalent more North Sea oil and gas over the next 20 years if urgent measures are taken to strengthen regu- latory oversight and collaboration in the indus- try, according to a government-backed review. Among the government's top priorities should be the creation of an "arm's length" reg- ulatory body with powers to require greater coor- dination and collaboration to help extend the productive life of the North Sea, according to interim conclusions of the independent review.
