Washington—One of the leading independent oil producers in the US called on the US on Tuesday to lift restrictions on exports of crude oil, saying such action was necessary to sustain the boom in production occurring in shale reserves in North Dakota and other parts of the country. Harold Hamm, the CEO of Continental Resources, said the US restrictions are “an archaic rule that needs to be done away with.”
